D4vd Real Name
His birth name is David Anthony Burke. He has said the stage spelling “D4vd” was chosen partly because it stood out for search engines while still reading exactly like his given name. He has never concealed his legal identity, and it appears in court filings, label contracts, and music credits.
D4vd Early Life and Education
David Anthony Burke was born on March 28, 2005, in Queens, New York, and later moved with his family to Houston, Texas, where he spent most of his childhood.
As a kid, he sang in a church choir and played piano, and he reportedly listened almost exclusively to gospel music until around age 13.
Reports describe periods of homeschooling, which he has said contributed to a more private, introverted personality that shows up in his songwriting.
D4vd Parents and Siblings
His parents are commonly reported as Dawud Burke and Colleen Burke. He has siblings, including a sister and a brother named Caleb. The family has largely stayed out of the public eye and has not given detailed media interviews about their home life.
D4vd Relationships
D4vd has not publicly confirmed a relationship status. In connection with the ongoing criminal case described below, prosecutors have alleged an inappropriate relationship with a minor, which is addressed separately and factually in the legal section of this article rather than framed as a typical celebrity dating story.
D4vd Age, Height, Weight and Physical Appearance
As of 2026, D4vd is 21 years old. His height is commonly reported between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches, since no official measurement has ever been confirmed by him or his team.
Weight estimates across fan sites range from about 145 to 165 pounds. He is generally described as having a slim build, curly dark hair, and a soft, emotive singing voice that fans often connect with the mood of his lyrics.
D4vd Before Fame
Before music, D4vd was active in the Fortnite gaming community, where he edited and uploaded gameplay montage videos to YouTube. To avoid copyright strikes on background music, he began producing his own original tracks, a decision that unintentionally became the starting point of his music career.
D4vd Career
D4vd released early tracks independently, gaining traction with a blend of lo fi pop, R&B, and indie rock sounds. His breakthrough came with “Romantic Homicide,” released in 2022, which went viral on TikTok and has since accumulated well over a billion streams on Spotify.
Other well known songs include “Here With Me,” “You and I,” “Past Love,” and “This Is How It Feels.” He signed with Darkroom and Interscope Records, part of Universal Music Group, and opened for SZA on her SOS Tour. In 2025, he released his debut album, Withered.
However, after his Tesla was linked to the discovery of a deceased 14 year old girl in September 2025, his headlining tour supporting the album was cut short, a planned deluxe edition was shelved, and he was dropped by Darkroom, Interscope, Sony Music Publishing, and his management company.
D4vd Social Media Presence
D4vd built much of his early audience organically through TikTok, where short clips of his music spread quickly, along with Instagram and YouTube. His online following grew into the millions during his rise between 2022 and 2024.
Following the criminal charges filed against him in 2026, his public social media activity effectively stopped, and much of the online conversation around his name now centers on the case rather than new music.
D4vd Net Worth
Various sources estimate D4vd’s net worth at roughly 2 to 3 million US dollars, built through streaming royalties, touring, and his major label deal prior to being dropped in 2025. This figure is not officially confirmed and may be affected by ongoing legal proceedings, legal costs, and the loss of his recording contract.
D4vd Achievements
He won a BMI Pop Award in 2024 for “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” and he received a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards nomination in 2025 for Favorite Male Breakout Artist. These recognitions came before the criminal case became public.
The Criminal Case Against D4vd
This is the part of D4vd’s story that cannot be responsibly left out of any current biography.
In September 2025, Los Angeles police discovered the decomposed and dismembered remains of 14 year old Celeste Rivas Hernandez inside a Tesla registered to D4vd, which had been impounded after being abandoned. Rivas had reportedly last been seen in April 2025 at his rental home in the Hollywood Hills.
In April 2026, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, with first degree murder with special circumstances.
Additional charges reported by prosecutors include continuous sexual acts and lewd acts with a person under 14, along with mutilating human remains. Prosecutors have alleged the killing was tied to Rivas threatening to expose the relationship and damage his career.
D4vd was arraigned, pleaded not guilty to all charges, and is being held without bail. His attorneys have stated publicly that the evidence will show he did not cause her death and that they intend to defend him vigorously in court.
Celeste’s family has spoken publicly, thanking law enforcement and describing her as a girl who loved to sing and dance, and asking for justice on her behalf.
Because the case is active and D4vd has pleaded not guilty, this article presents only what has been publicly reported by law enforcement and news outlets. The legal outcome has not been decided, and readers should follow verified news sources for updates.
D4vd Nationality and Religion
D4vd is American, born in New York and raised largely in Texas. His mother is reported to be African American and his father African. He grew up attending church and singing gospel music as a child, though his current religious practice has not been detailed publicly.
